About Me

Stephanie Wilson, J.D., CFP®
Hi, I’m Stephanie. I am a native of Lawrence, Kansas, though I spent my junior high and high school years in Germany.
I am the granddaughter of Evelyn, who spent 10 years in assisted living facilities and nursing homes due to her dementia, only to run out of money and qualify for Medicaid a month before her death. The lack of help available to navigate her financial and legal needs inspired me to limit my practice to elder law and special needs planning.
I am also a mother. A daughter. The owner of a crazy but loyal Jack Russell Terrier and a sweet Golden Retriever. I yearn to travel all over the US in my tiny camper. Hiking in Colorado is one of my favorite things to do. And I am working on mastering making a great loaf of bread.
I hold a B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Kansas and a law degree from Washburn University. I am licensed to practice law in Kansas. I am also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. I am President of the Kansas Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and I am Board President of Trinity In-Home Care, Inc., a local non-profit.
My Botique Firm
I am lucky to have a career where I can truly make a difference for others. My law firm is intentionally small. It enables me to provide the best possible service to my clients at a reasonable price.
One of my favorite things to help clients with is preparing for paying for long term care. While it isn’t something we like to think can happen to us, the reality is that it can happen, and it can be so expensive! Making the right legal and financial decisions regarding this possibility can make such a tremendous difference for someone’s quality of life and their life savings should they need long term care.
I make house calls in Douglas County to clients who need it. I answer my own phone. I keep my practice small because I like connecting with clients one on one.
